Welcome to our new blog series on wine tasting, starting with an introduction.
When we can express characteristics about our wine experience, it will not only help us remember them but also help us describe our impressions to others. That’s why we’re going to take you through the experience in a methodical way.
First, we’ll talk about the 7 S’s in wine tasting. You’re saying you’ve heard of the 3 S’s and the 5 S’s? Well, hold onto your corkscrews and we’ll introduce the whole gamut. There’s a particular order in which we experience wines so that’s the order we’ll use.
Next, we’ll give you some ideas about planning a wine tasting event. We’ll answer some questions like where, what time and who to invite. You can make it as formal or as informal as you like. The best thing of all is that you’ll be spending time with old and maybe some new friends.
Wine tasting is nice on its own but to really appreciate wine, we love to experience it with food. Here’s where we break away from the traditional “white wines with seafood and reds with meat” myth. We don’t think those rules apply anymore.
Then we’ll give you some suggestions for pairing wines with food but with a caveat. Everyone’s taste buds are different so what works for one may not work for another. For this reason, you might need to have options, especially if you have vegetarian or vegan friends in the crowd.
Lastly, let’s carry on the tradition. You’ll have so much fun that you’ll want to keep it going. Your appreciation for the difference between drinking wine and tasting wine is solid, so why not continue to share it?
We hope you’ll enjoy our new blog series on wine tasting and that this introduction has you intrigued.
